Eight members of the Nebraska women’s golf team captured Academic All-Big Ten honors when the conference announced its spring awards on June 12.

Seniors Lindsey Thiele, Michaela Vavrova and Andrea Velez led the hardware haul by claiming the third Academic All-Big Ten awards of their careers.

Juniors Miu Takahashi, Lena Hassert and Brooke Bream added their second Academic All-Big Ten honors, while sophomores Kelli Ann Strand and Sydney Harz earned the first conference academic accolades of their careers.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team (as verified by being on the official squad list as of May 1 for spring sports), have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The Husker women’s golf team’s strong collection of Academic All-Big Ten awards followed on the heels of the team earning the Herman Team GPA Award in April, which was presented to the Nebraska women’s team that produced the highest combined cumulative grade-point average for the 2023 academic year.
