Li to Close Summer Action at U.S. Women’s Amateur


TULSA, Okla. – Duke women’s golf rising sophomore Katie Li will close her summer action this week as she competes in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Aug. 5-11 at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
 
Li will be one of 155 golfers competing from ages 13 to 59 years.   There will also be 30 different states represented along with 17 different countries. 
 

Earlier this summer, Li claimed the title at the New Jersey Golf Association Women’s Amateur with a 4&3 victory over Ami Gianchandani.  With the win, Li received an invitation to play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur. 
 
Duke has three golfers who have won the U.S. Women’s Amateur. Virada Nirapathpongporn won in 2003 at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pa., while Amanda Blumenherst won in 2008 at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore., and Hannah O’Sullivan won in 2015 at the Portland Golf Club in Portland, Ore.
 
Li opens play Monday beginning at 10:21 a.m. (ET), off hole No. 10.
