Herrington Records Hole-In-One En Route to Round of 64 Win at U.S. Amateur


CHASKA, Minn. – Incoming Freshman Jackson Herrington started off his U.S. Amateur match play debut with a win in the Round of 64 at Hazeltine National Golf Club. 

The Dickson, Tennessee, native outlasted Sohan Patel in 15 holes after going four up in the match. Herrington’s round was highlighted by an ace on the par-3 13th hole. That marked the first hole-in-one in match play at the U.S. Amateur since 2018. 

Herrington closed his round by winning his last three of four holes posting a score of one-under after only playing 15.  

Herrington moves on to the round of 32 to play Luis Masaveu. The match will tee off at 11 a.m. ET Thursday.
