CLEMSON, S.C. — Sophomore Ivy Schulze’s sixth-place finish and a pair of strong freshman debuts from Aitana Tuesta and Juliette Demeaux led Clemson to a third-place finish at the Tiger Classic on Monday. Louise Reau led Georgia Southern to a 17-under-par team score (559) and the championship of the one-day, 36-hole tournament at Clemson’s Walker Course on Monday.

Campbell finished second at five-under par (571) and Clemson was third at +1 (577). UNC Greensboro was fourth with an eight-over-par score of 584, while Mercer and Charlotte tied for fifth at 593.

It was the season-opening tournament for all 16 teams in the field. The event marked the first time Clemson has played host to a men’s or women’s golf tournament at the Walker Course on the campus of Clemson University, which played to a par 72 and 6,229 yards for this event.

Clemson was led by sophomore Ivy Schulze, who had rounds of 71-71 to finish sixth overall, one of just four players in the field to shoot under par in each round on Monday. It marked the first time the native of Anderson, S.C. and T.L. Hanna High School, was in the Clemson team lineup.

Joining Schulze and Tuesta in the top 15 of the individual standings was Sydney Roberts, who finished tied for 14th with a 145 total. The junior from Chesnee, SC, who finished 10th at the ACC Championship last year, had rounds of 72-73.

Juliette Demeaux was another newcomer who had a strong performance for Clemson. The freshman from Paris, France had consistent rounds of 73-73 to finish in 19th place with a 146 total.

Chloe Holder had rounds of 77 and 75 for a 152 total. Katherine Schuster and Allison Paik played the tournament as individuals. Schuster had rounds of 75-74 for a 149 score, while Paik, a transfer from Columbia, had rounds of 75-80.

The Eagles had three of the top five individuals in gaining the victory. Reau, a sophomore from France, won the tournament with a score of seven-under-par 137 thanks to rounds of 72 and 65. It was the third career…
