University of Missouri women’s golf opened the 2024-25 campaign on Sunday with two Tigers sitting in the top 10 through 18 holes of play at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
Sophomore Fleur van Beek was quick to follow up a strong rookie campaign by carding a two-under 70 to finish the opening round in a three-way tie for first place. After an even-par first nine holes that featured one birdie and just one bogey, van Beek finished the day strong with a three-under last five holes. Highlighting her performance was an eagle three on the fifth– the lone eagle on the day by any of the tournament’s 69 golfers – en route to the shared lead.
Senior Ffion Tynan also turned in a strong opening day, posting a one-over 73 to sit seventh after the first round. Tynan carded three birdies on the day as Mizzou was one of just two schools to feature two golfers in the top 10 through 18 holes.
As a team, the Tigers are fifth of 11 schools at +15 with TCU leading after day one at +7.
Day two tees on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
