Illini Tied for Second after First Round at Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Illinois women’s golf finished the first round of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational tied for second after carding a team total of 298 (+10).

Brielle Mapanao, making her Illini debut, ends the day tied for seventh after her opening round of 73 (+1). Mapanao picked up a pair of birdies, one on both the front and back nine.

Lexanne Halama and Victoria Zheng are each tied for 12th after the duo both carded a 74 (+2). Halama tallied three birdies, including two on the back, while Zheng amassed two of her own.

Yurang Li is 32nd after posting a 77 (+5). Brielle Burns, also making her Illinois debut, is 52nd after her round of 80 (+8).

Anna Ritter, competing individually, is tied for fifth after carding an even-par 72 on the day, birdieing four times.

TCU holds the team lead at 7-over (295), while Missouri’s Fleur Van Beek holds the individual lead at 2-under (70).

The Fighting Illini will be back in action in tomorrow, with second round tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
