CLEMSON, S.C. — Kian Rose shot  212 score, including a final round 72, to lead Clemson to a 12th place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole event was played at the famed Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio, the site of six professional major championships.

This year’s Inverness Intercollegiate featured 14 of the top teams in the nation, nine of whom (including Clemson) played in the NCAA National Tournament last year.

Virginia won the tournament with an 826 score, four better than defending NCAA Champion Auburn. Oklahoma and Vanderbilt were tied for third.

Rose led Clemson with rounds of 70-70-72 for his 212 score, on the course that played to a par 69 for this event. It was a positive result for the redshirt senior, who is coming back from an injury plagued 2023-24 season. Rose had 14 birdies to tie for the most in the 85 player field and his 4.0 scoring average on par five holes also tied for best in the field. His 212 score was 28th.

Lucas Augustsson, a transfer from East Carolina, was Clemson’s second best player with a 213 score that included rounds of 69-73-71. He finished 33rd overall with eight birdies and a 4.67 average on the par five holes.

Clemson played two true freshman in the opening tournament of the year for the first time since 2018. Colin Salema was Clemson’s third best player for the 54 holes with a 216 score, 50th place in the field overall. He averaged 2.92 on the par three holes, seventh best in the field. Classmate Rich Wills had rounds of 74-72-75 for a 221.

Senior Andrew Swanson had rounds of 74-72-75 for a 221 total, a tie for 75th.

Clemson returns to the course September 21-23 to compete in another tournament held at a PGA Tour site. The Tigers will compete in the Valero Texas Collegiate at the TPC San Antonio, the home each April of the Valero Texas Open.
