Nebraska’s Rudy Sautron captured the first Big Ten Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week award of the 2024-25 season, when the conference announced its weekly honor on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Sautron, a sophomore from Reunion Island, France, shared the award with Oregon’s Aidan Krafft after Sautron produced the best debut performance by a Husker men’s golfer in history.

A transfer from NCAA Division II Cameron (Okla.) University, Sautron captured the individual title at the season-opening Gopher Invitational in Independence, Minn., on Monday with a three-round total of 208 (-5) to power the Huskers to a third-place team finish.

He closed an impressive tournament with a two-under-par 69 on Monday to tie the best 54-hole score by a sophomore in school history, matching three-round tournament totals of 208 by Brady Schnell (2004-05) and Seth Porter (1999-2000). Sautron’s tournament began with an opening-round 69 on Sunday that included an eagle on No. 18, before adding a one-under-par 70 in Sunday’s second round.

Sautron and the Huskers return to action when they play host to the Git-R-Done Invitational at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln. Action begins Monday, Sept. 23 with tee times off No. 1 and 10 at 8 a.m. After 36 holes on Monday, the tournament will conclude with a final round Tuesday, Sept. 24, beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
