Illinois Women's Golf Set to Host Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois women’s golf is set to host the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah for the sixth time in program history. This two-day, 54-hole tournament will take place at the historic and scenic Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill., on Monday, Oct. 7, and Tuesday, Oct.8.

THE SETTING

The Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah will be played on Course No. 2 at Medinah Country Club. The course will be set up for a par 72 and will play 6,166 yards long. Designed by Tom Bendelow, this course officially opened in 1925. Medinah Country Club has three iconic courses and has received multiple prestigious honors from BoardRoom Magazine’s Distinguished Clubs and recognition from both the Platinum Clubs of America and World Clubs. Medinah is also known for hosting three U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, the 2012 Ryder Cup, the 2019 BMW Championships and will host the 2026 Presidents Cup.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The 54-hole tournament will feature 15 teams. Monday’s shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. CT, with 36 holes of continuous play to follow. Tuesday’s shotgun start will be at 9:00 a.m. CT.

THE FIELD

In addition to the Illini, the 15-team field for the Women’s Invitational at Medinah will include Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Houston, Indiana, Louisiana Monroe, Maryland, Ole Miss, North Texas, Northern Illinois, Pepperdine, Texas Tech, UCF and UCLA.

ILLINI AT ILLINI WOMEN’S INVITATIONAL AT MEDINAH

This will be Illinois’ sixth time hosting the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah. In last season’s tournament, the Illini finished with a season-low team round of 1-under (287) to finish in 11th place at 14-over (878). In previous years, the team placed eighth in 2022, tied for sixth in 2021 and secured third place in both 2018 and 2019. In last year’s event, Isabel Sy tied for third with a score of 8-under (208), marking the best performance of her career.
