Tyrrell Hatton can smile on a golf course.
He poured in a birdie putt on the famous 18th green at the Home of Golf, gave a fist pump and his face lit up like a little kid on Christmas, and for good reason.
Hatton won the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, a closing birdie giving him the title for the third time. He’s the only player in the history of the DP World Tour event to win the championship three times.
Hatton finished at 24 under for the week after a closing 2-under 70 on the Old Course.
“I’m trying not to cry, to be honest,” Hatton said in the TV interview after his victory.
On Saturday, Hatton tied the course record with an 11-under 61 at the Old Course. Colsaerts also had a birdie attempt on the 18th, but it missed low. Hatton, from about 5 feet away, poured it in the center.
In the pro-am portion, he and his father, Jeff, came in second at 46 under. Thorbjorn Olesen and partner Dermot Desmond finished first at 48 under.
