The Vols will tee off in the Puerto Rico Classic on Monday and are scheduled to compete in one round apiece on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to Bushnell/Golfweek’s Coaches’ Poll, Tennessee is one of five ranked teams in the 15-team field.
This will be the 32nd year of the Puerto Rico Classic, which is set to be played at the par-72, 7,506-yard Grand Reserve Golf Club. The Tom Kite-designed course hosts the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rican Open annually.
Tennessee looks to build upon its two top-five tournament finishes this past fall season after placing third at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate and fifth at the Fighting Irish Classic.
The 2025 Puerto Rico Classic will be Tennessee’s fifth all-time appearance in the tournament, all occurring under head coach Brennan Webb.
The Vols logged a third-place finish in last year’s contest with a team total of 38-under-par which marked the fifth-best 54-hole score in program history. Evan Woosley-Reed led the lineup of four top-25 Volunteers with an eighth-place finish, which marked his second consecutive top-10 finish at the Puerto Rico Classic.
THE VOLS’ LINEUP
Lance Simpson:
Simpson holds a team-leading 70.17 stroke average heading into the spring after being featured in all 12 Tennessee lineups this past fall. After registering three top-five finishes this fall, Simpson was named to the Ben Hogan Award Watchlist.
Evan Woosley-Reed:
Woosley-Reed competed in all four fall tournaments, finishing with a 71.00 stroke average. His best performance came at the Valero Texas Collegiate, where he shot 6-under en route to a fifth-place finish.
Jackson Herrington:
The freshman notched two top-20 finishes in the fall and enters the spring with a 72.67 average.
Bruce Murphy:
The redshirt sophomore joins the lineup boasting a 72.31 career stroke average, with three top-10 finishes, including a first-place victory in the 2024 Wolfpack Individual.
Josh Hill:
Hill recently logged a sixth-place showing at The Stono where he shot 3-under overall to post a sixth-place finish. His final-round 67 marked a career-low 18-hole score.
