Huskies Tie For Fifth at Alice & John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Washington women’s golf team finished play on the final day of Alice and John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic, landing tied for fifth place scoring +21 after three rounds in Palm Desert, Calif.

Oregon finished first in the tournament, shooting 34-under par on the weekend. USC finished second at -11 with Pepperdine (+11) and CSU Fullerton (+17) ending in third and fourth, respectively. Washington finished in a tie for fifth with San Jose State. 

Vivian Lu led the Huskies, tying for 11th place. She carded a six-over 72 in the final round after two consecutive under-par days, finishing the tournament at one-over with a total score of 214.

Carmen Lim made a strong move up the leaderboard, climbing eight spots after an even-par final round. She posted a three-over 71 in round one, followed her one-under score in round two, to finish at two-over for the tournament and tied for 14th place.

Next up on the leaderboard for the Huskies was Jenny Chang, finishing tied for 40th. After scoring one-over the first day and two-over the second, she finished round three six-over par to end the tournament with a score of 222.

Freshmen Wendy Tang and Athena Ni finished tied for 55th and 76th place, respectively. Tang carded her best round of the tournament with a three-over 71 after posting six-over and four-over in the first two rounds. Ni recorded a four-over final round, finishing at +17 with a total score of 230.

“Frustrating last round,” said Head Coach Mary Lou Mulfur. “We showed glimpses of greens but also showed some of lack of experience at this level. Overall proud of the effort, we just need to do the basics a bit better. Great tournament for Carmen. And Viv has had an unbelievable year so far, the run she was on had to come to an end sooner or later.”
