PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Penn State men’s golf alumni Patrick Sheehan has qualified for the PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic following an outstanding qualifier Monday.
The Cognizant Classic is set for Feb. 27-March 2 at the PGA National Resort’s Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Sheehan won his Monday qualifier at The Tesoro Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., finishing at 8-under, 64. He carded nine total birdies, including five straight on holes 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17.
Sheehan was a five-year standout for the Nittany Lions from 2019-2024 in which he was a three-time GCAA All-Region pick, four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and 2022 NCAA Regionals individual qualifier. He finished his Penn State career with a 72.32 stroke average through 117 rounds, the third-lowest career stroke average in program history.
