Women's Golf Finishes 4th at Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Rutgers women’s golf took home fourth place out of 13 teams at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational. The Scarlet Knights improved on their team score in each round and finished ahead of a pair of Big Ten teams in Indiana and Wisconsin.

Individually, Grace Lu led the charge with an 11th-place finish. A pair of teammates were right behind, with Lorena Rossettin at T12 and Emily James in T14.

“While we dropped a couple shots coming in, I’m happy we held our position on the leaderboard.” head coach Kari Williams said. “This tournament is always a good challenge for us before heading to Big Tens and we’ll have a few good days of practice before heading down to Maryland.”

Round 3 – Sunday, April 13th

Weather: Partly Cloudy, Temps in mid 40s, 5-15 mph winds

Grace Lu put together a strong closing round to move up move spots on the final day and finish just outside the top 10 in 11th place. In her final round, Lu used a run of four birdies in a seven-hole span to play the back nine under par and shoot an even-par 72 on the day.

Lorena Rossettin held firm to finish the tournament in a tie for 12th. Rossettin rolled in four birdies on the day and shot a 2-over 74 for the round.

James played a clean round and capitalized on her scoring opportunities, picking up four birdies, 12 pars and playing the back nine 2-under par.

“I felt good out on the course today and had all aspects of my game working,” James said. “My chipping was really sharp and gave me a lot of confidence hitting my approach shots. This is a tough course and we’re happy with how hard we competed.”

Joline Truong shot a 7-over 79 in the final round, with birdies on 3 and 14. She finished the event T26. Lucrezia Rossettin rounded out the RU competitors, shooting a 10-over 82 in the final round to finish T53.
