Men's Golf Tied For Seventh After Slow Start To Big 12 Championship

Arizona men’s golf ends day one of the Big 12 Championship in seventh place overall. The Wildcats bounced back, from a first round they look to forget, with a solid second round of 8-over par. Filip Jakubcik has continued his success from last week as he sits in a tie for ninth place at 3-over par. With a round of 75 in his first 18 holes and a round of 68 in the second, he is seven shots back from the lead.

Zach Pollo had the best round of round one carding a 74. He followed that up with a 72 to end the day tied for 23rd. Johnny Walker finished the day at 9-over par with rounds of 75 and 74. Tianyi Xiong is 9-over par after the 36 hole day one. Griffin Rhoads played round one and fired at 77. Matej Baca played in round two and shot a 76.

The Wildcats have the third best par five scoring average at 3-under par. They also are inside the top five in birdies made. Unfortunately, the Wildcats also have the third most double bogeys which have put a blemish on their round.

The tee times for the third round of the Big 12 Championship begin at 5:30am MST.
