Illini Women's Golf Adds Transfer Tavia Burgess to 2025-26 Roster

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois head coach Renee Slone announced today the addition of Morehead State transfer Tavia Burgess to the 2025-26 roster.

“We are excited Tavia has decided to take the next step in her collegiate journey with us here at Illinois,” Slone said. “After a stellar freshman campaign at Morehead State, which culminated in a 13th place finish at the NCAA Lexington Regional, we are looking forward to much success during the next three years. Her energy, competitiveness and work ethic will add to our team dynamic.”

The 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year posted a 73.16 scoring average this past season, which was highlighted by an individual second-place finish at the 2025 OVC Women’s Golf Championship, leading the Eagles to their third OVC title.

At the NCAA Lexington Regional from May 5-7, Burgess placed tied for 13th, while helping Morehead State to the best-ever 54-hole score for an Ohio Valley Conference team at a regional in league history (+24, 888). The Mather, Calif., native also recorded the second-best individual 54-hole score for an OVC player ever (-1, 215) at an NCAA Regional.
