WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A member of the Leroy Keyes Purdue Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024, Laura Gonzalez-Escallon will be officially inducted on Friday.
Gonzalez-Escallon (2010-13) is a four-year letterwinner for Purdue Women’s Golf who was named the 2012 Big Ten Golfer of the Year.
She is a two-time Second Team All-American via Golfweek and WGCA, and she was the recipient of the 2012 Mary Fossum Award, given to the Big Ten golfer with the lowest stroke average.
Gonzalez-Escallon played a big role on the 2010 NCAA Championship team, one of Purdue’s only two women’s teams to have won a national title in school history.
She is one of only three women in program history to become a four-time First Team All-Big Ten honoree.
Additionally, Gonzalez-Escallon was the 2010 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and helped lead the Boilermakers to a second-place team finish at the NCAA Championships in 2011, a third-place mark in 2013 and a ninth-place finish in 2012.
She placed third overall individually at both the 2011 and 2012 national championships.
Before college, Gonzalez-Escallon was a member of her native Belgium National Team and won the 2008 Girls Amateur Championship in the United Kingdom.
Since graduating from Purdue, she has spent time competing on the LPGA Tour and Symetra Tour.
