Men’s Golf Posts Solid 36 Holes in Texas

The No. 3 Sun Devil men’s golf squad had a solid 36-hole first day at the Maridoe Intercollegiate in Carrollton, Texas, without two of the best amateurs in the world in its lineup. No. 7 Oklahoma is ahead of the field at 8-under 568 (285-283), with ASU and fourth-ranked Oklahoma State tied for second at 6-over 582, as ASU shot 288-294.
 
Michael Mjaaseth is one-shot off the individual lead with a 3-under 141 (69-72), trailing only Jase Summy of Oklahoma.
 
The Sun Devils — 88-23-4 with team wins at the Cabo Collegiate (March 2-4) and the Sahalee Players Championship (Sept. 7-8) – are without Josele Ballester, the 2024 U.S. Amateur champion and fifth in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, who is preparing for the Masters, while senior All-American Preston Summerhays (No. 11 in WAGR) is playing in the Valero Open in Houston.
