Sun Devil Women’s Golf makes top-15 cut at NCAA Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Sun Devil Women’s Golf has advanced to the fourth round of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship, held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

No. 8 Arizona State (+11/875) made the Top-15 cut comfortably, securing a spot in the final round of stroke play taking place tomorrow. Following Monday’s action, eight teams will continue on to the Match Play portion of the NCAA Championship. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye‘s team will be in the final 15 teams for the first time since the 2022 season. ASU currently sits in ninth just three strokes back of eighth-place No. 3 South Carolina for the coveted final Match Play spot. Everyone is chasing No. 1 Stanford, who posted a NCAA record 18-under round today to move to 23-under for the tournament.

A trio of Sun Devil golfers are a big reason why their team is remaining in the championship hunt. Junior Paula Schulz-Hanssen (+1/217) is still the highest Sun Devil in the standings, currently sitting in a tie for 23rd. Redshirt sophomore Patience Rhodes (+2/218) made yet another jump up the leaderboard, shooting up 15 spots into the Top-30 (T28) after carding a 71 (-1). Joining them in the Top-50 (T45) is junior Beth Coulter, who maintained her status as a solid third contributor. Isla McDonald-O’Brien moved up more than any other Sun Devil today, gaining 31 spots thanks to a 72 (E) coming at a necessary time. Senior Grace Summerhays was a freshman the last time the program made the Top-15 and she fired a 70 (-2) in the fourth round of the 2022 NCAA Championship in an attempt to help her team into Match Play. She will look to repeat that success and use her experience in tomorrow’s action.

The Maroon and Gold begin the fourth round of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship at 11:56 AM MST on the tenth hole tomorrow morning.
