Blue Devils Hold Two-Shot Lead Entering Final Round of Rod Myers Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – Three Blue Devils carded 2-under-par 70s in Saturday’s second round of the Rod Myers Invitational, keeping host Duke atop the leaderboard heading into Sunday’s final round at Duke University Golf Club.

Senior William Love, junior Bryan Kim and sophomore John Hiller each bettered par by two strokes to pace Duke, while freshman Charles Nelson was even-par on the day and senior Ethan Evans tallied a 73.

Love rolled in six birdies for the second straight day, bringing his tournament-leading total to 12. His 36-hole score of 139 (-5) leads the Blue Devils and has him tied for fifth overall, three shots behind leader John Logan of UNCW (136/-8).

Kim opened with a 3-under front nine and is tied for seventh at 140 (-4), while Evans sits in a tie for ninth at 141 (-3).

Through two rounds of the 54-hole, three-day tournament, Duke (564/-12) leads the Rod Myers Invitational team standings by two strokes over UNCW (566). Harvard and Indiana are tied for third at 571.

In the John H. Ryan Memorial – a separate competition among the 22 golfers playing as individuals – Duke senior Daniel Choi birdied three of his last four holes to card a 71 (-1). He sits in fourth place at 143 (-1), five strokes behind Indiana’s Nick Piesen (138/-6). 

Final round action on Sunday begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Duke University Golf Club. Admission and parking are free for spectators
