Claycomb Leads Cards to Fifth-Place Finish at the Bearcat Invitational


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cooper Claycomb finished at 2-under par to lead the University of Louisville men’s golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Bearcat Invitational on Tuesday in Coldstream, Ohio.
 
Collectively, the Cardinals shot a 1-over-par 853 to finish in fifth with scores of 281-281-291=853. Entering the final round at 6-under-par, the Cardinals closed with a 7-over-par to fall two spots in the overall final standings.
 
Claycomb closed the tournament in 11th place after shooting rounds of 69-69-73=211. Heading into the final round at 4-under-par, Claycomb shot a 2-over-par 73 to just drop out of the top 10.
 
Andrew Tan finished under for the tournament for the first time in his career. He closed in 15th place with a 1-under-par 212. He shot 68-72-68 for the best overall finish in his career.
 
Warren Thomis closed the tournament in 26th place after he shot a 1-over-par 214. After opening with a solid round of 68, Thomis finished with a 72 and 74 to just miss a top-25 finish.
 
Brady Smith ended in 45th place  with a final score of 217 and Easton Johnson was in 62nd place after his 7-over 220.
 
The Cardinals continue the fall season at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
