Senior Wells Williams and freshmen Michael Riebe and Jon Ed Steed each had an eagle on Tuesday. Vanderbilt finished Round 2 at 8-under 280, as the Dores go into Wednesday’s finale holding a one-stroke lead over Kansas. Vandy goes into Round 3 with a team score of 18-under 558.

“I thought the guys did a good job battling until the end, which is something we take a lot of pride in,” said Thomas F. Roush, M.D., and Family Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Head Coach Scott Limbaugh. “I didn’t think we had the same urgency and focus as we had yesterday, which led to some simple mistakes. Those are things we have control over and have to continue to learn from. Overall, it was a solid day with Ryan and Chase leading us and doing a great job lifting the team up with their play.”

Junior Chase Nevins and sophomore Ryan Downes each carded 3-under 69 in Round 2. Nevins’ performance on Tuesday put him in third place on the player leaderboard at 7-under 137. The Great Falls, Virginia, native goes into the tournament’s final round just two strokes off the lead.

Downes’ efforts in Round 2 allowed him to move up six spots on the player leaderboard, ending his day in a tie for eighth with Williams at 5-under 139. Williams also finished under par during his second go-around the course at Daniel Island Club, as the senior carded 2-under 70.

Vanderbilt heads into the final round of The Bryson Invitational holding a one-stroke lead. The Dores are seeking their second-straight team title and third overall of the 2025-26 season.
