13th Annual Colorado Golf Day Set For August 29

BOULDER — The 13th Annual Colorado Golf Day, the main fundraising event for the University of Colorado men’s golf team, is set for Monday, August 29, with Boulder Country Club once again serving as host.

Participants have the opportunity to play the course that has previously hosted the men’s and women’s Pac-12 Conference championships as well as several of the state’s top amateur tournaments throughout its history.

“We are excited to once again host Colorado Golf Day this fall, our important fundraiser for the men’s golf team, said Roy Edwards, CU’s head men’s golf coach.  “This will be a great way to kick off the 2022-23 season in a fun and competitive environment with our team on a great golf course like Boulder Country Club’s.”

The format is a four-person “shamble” with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start, and entry fees include lunch, soft drinks, a heavy appetizer awards reception and prizes (a shamble is where everyone tees off, but then everyone plays in from the location of the best drive).  Also included is membership in the Colorado Golf Partners booster program.  It all starts with registration, lunch and the start of the silent auction at 11:30 a.m.

Individual entry fees are $450, with a team of four costing $1,600 (provided all enter as a full team); players can compete as individuals or for their businesses, but also can compete with three others on behalf of their designated golf club (members, pros, staff members, etc.) and the winning team will receive a rotating trophy to be on display at their club.  The defending champions include two former Buffs, Pat Grady and Michael Baird, along with Blake Meacham and Kyle Sauer.

There are also several sponsorship opportunities available (hole and title sponsors at various donation amounts), along with many great auction items to bid on as well.  All net proceeds from the event go to the Men’s Golf Team Excellence Fund to help defray assorted expenses over the course of the season.  Those interested in helping support the team don’t need to play by choosing to donate one of the sponsorship choices.
