Aaron Du, Costas Panay and Sampson Zheng have been named as as Division I Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for 2021-22.
Aaron Du, Costas Panay And Sampson Zheng Pick Up Prestigious Honor
NORMAN, Okla. – The Cal trio of Aaron Du, Costas Panay and Sampson Zheng was honored Thursday by the Golf Coaches Association of America as Division I Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for 2021-22. Panay was selected for the second consecutive season while Du and Zheng were named for the first time. Three Cal selections ties for the most in school history and is third time a Cal trio has been selected following Brandon Hagy, Joël Stalter and Michael Weaver in both 2012-13 and 2013-14. Cal has now had 23 student-athletes in the history of the Golden Bears’ program earn All-America Scholar honors with the group combining to be recognized on 35 occasions.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar selection an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate’s degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50-percent of their team’s competitive rounds and have a stroke-average under 76.0, as well as maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and in good standing at his college or university.

Aaron Du, 5-7, 148, So., 2nd Season At Cal In 2021-22 (Beijing, China/Lake Mary Preparatory School)

— Had Cal’s top stroke average in 2021-22 with a 71.76 mark
— Posted three top-10 finishes during the 2021-22 season all in the spring of 2022 including Cal’s lone individual medalist honors at the John Burns Intercollegiate, as well as a fifth-place showing at the Arizona Intercollegiate and his second top-10 finish in as many years at the Pac-12 Championships with a tied for 10th-place effort
