Cougar Golf Coach Kelli Kamimura to Retire from Coaching

PULLMAN, Wash. (April 30, 2022) – Washington State University Women’s Golf Coach Kelli Kamimura announced Friday that she is retiring from college coaching. Kamimura, who was given a three-year contract extension from WSU Director of Athletic Pat Chun at the conclusion of last season, said the time was right for a change.

“I have absolutely loved being the Head Womens Golf Coach at Washington State University for the last 13 years,” said Kamimura. “I am so grateful for the administrators, staff and other coaches who have been instrumental during my time at WSU. I am especially grateful for the incredible student-athletes that I have been able to coach during my career and who have deeply impacted my life. “We thank Kelli for leading our women’s golf program over the past 13 years,” said Chun. “She has elevated our program and has done extraordinary work developing our student-athletes. We appreciate her commitment to WSU and the impact she has made through the years. We wish her, PJ and Emmie nothing but the best moving forward and look forward to watching the next chapter of Kelli’s career.”

The future of Cougar golf is primed for success moving forward as four of this year’s top five scorers return this fall, including 2022 Pac-12 Top 10 finisher Darcy Habgood, who earlier this month became only the fourth WSU women’s golfer in program history to post a top-10 finish at the Pac-12 Championships.

“I am excited for the future of the program as the current roster and incoming players are a very talented group that I believe will accomplish great things on and off the golf course,” Kamimura continued. “Whoever is named the next head coach will be very lucky to work in such a…
