Carson Bertagnole, a freshman at the University of North Carolina, will make his PGA TOUR debut Thursday in the Puerto Rico Open.
Bertagnole won an exemption into the tournament by finishing second in the White Sands Bahamas Invitational in December at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island, The Bahamas.
The Pinehurst, N.C., native is already a winner in the college ranks, having won medalist honors via a playoff at Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Classic in October. He is second on the team in scoring average (70.61).
The Puerto Rico Open is being played at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande.
Bertagnole is paired in the first round with Nicholas Lindheim and Jeremy Pau.
Tar Heel alum David Ford, the 2025 National Player of the Year, is also in the field in Puerto Rico.
Golf Channel coverage begins Thursday at 10 a.m.
