Riley Joins Women’s Golf - Stanford University Athletics

STANFORD, Calif. – Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf Anne Walker has named Brooke Riley as the program’s new assistant coach. Riley, who was a standout amateur at Northwestern, comes to The Farm after working as assistant golf professional at Stonebriar Country Club. Riley will replace Maddie Sheils, who was named Associate Head Coach at Colorado earlier this month.

“In hiring Brooke, we bring a positive, passionate and energetic leader to our team,” Walker, the 2022 National Coach of the Year, said of the hire. “As a student-athlete, she was successful in the classroom and on the golf course at one of the top universities in the country. She will bring her recent experience competing for National Championships and help our players prepare to play at their best. We can’t wait to welcome her to Stanford and have her meet the team.”

A two-time graduate of Northwestern, Riley was a member of the Wildcats program that finished in the Top 10 at NCAA Championships in four straight seasons (2016-19). She twice earned All-Big Ten honors and was an honorable mention All-American in 2019. She found herself inside the Top 50 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings with three amateur wins during her collegiate career, and made the cut to play at Augusta National during the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur in 2021.

“It is truly a dream to join the Cardinal family and to be given an opportunity to join such a prestigious program,” Riley said. “I am so grateful to Coach Walker for bringing me into the role of assistant coach. She is someone I have respected and looked up to for years and I cannot wait to join the program on The Farm. Coach Walker has brought in a special group of women, and I am ecstatic to work with such a motivated an inspirational team.

“Their 2022 National Championship was a culmination of the team’s hard work, as well as all those involved with the program, and I am fortunate to join what they have already built.”

Riley has Stanford ties, as her sister Katie Riley played for the Cardinal women’s soccer program from 2006-09. Prior to Northwestern, Riley graduated from Union East High School in Manteca, Calif.

“Stanford has always held a special place in my heart as I watched my sister live her dream of playing college soccer on The Farm. I grew up coming to campus regularly to watch her games and I was nothing short of a super fan, so this feels like a full-circle moment to join the Stanford family. Go…
