Bears Lead The Field At Western Intercollegiate

California freshman Trevor Cox shot a 4-under par 66 Monday at the Western Intercollegiate, tying his season low.


Cox Shoots 4-Under 66 In Round One

SANTA CRUZ – California men’s golf found themselves at the top of the leaderboard after the first round of the Western Intercollegiate Monday. The Bears shot a 7-under par 343 Monday, and currently lead second place UNLV by one stroke heading into the second round.
 
Freshman Trevor Cox led the Bears with six birdies in round one, shooting a 4-under par 66, tying his season low, and ending the day in a tie for third place. Teammates Sihao Cong and
Charlie Bundy were not far behind Cox, as both shot a 2-under par 68, each tying for 11th place, respectively. Senior Daniel Heo had three birdies in a row on the back nine, but ended the day at 1-under par in a tie for 20th place.
 
The Bears resume play tomorrow at Noon PT., with Bundy and Heo starting on hole one, followed by Cox and freshman Xihuan Chang at 12:12 p.m., and sophomore Ziqin Zhou and Cong at 12:24 p.m.
