Meyers Finishes Second to Lead Penn State in Fall Finale

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s golf junior Jimmy Meyers finished in second place and the Nittany Lions placed eighth in the team race as Penn State wrapped up its fall finale at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Tuesday.
 
The Nittany Lions carded an 8-under, 280, in Tuesday’s final round to finish at 17-under, 847, overall. Host #19 ETSU claimed the team crown.
 
Meyers capped off his career-best showing with a team-low 4-under, 68, in the final round to finish at 12-under, 204, overall. Meyers’ 204 is nine strokes below his previous career low of 213. He finished just one stroke behind the first-place golfer of Georgia Southern who carded a 13-under, 203. Meyers’ 204 is the lowest score by a Nittany Lion on a par-72 course this fall.
 
Graduate student Lou Olsakovsky shot a 2-under, 70, for the third-straight day to finish at 6-under, 210, and in a tie for 15th place. His 210 is a new career low for a par-72 course.
 
Junior Patrick Sheehan fired an even 72 Tuesday to finish at 2-under, 214, for the tournament and in a tie for 29th place. Sheehan placed in the top 10 of four of this fall’s five tournaments.
 
Freshman Morgan Lofland moved up 18 spots in the final round thanks to a 2-under, 70, to finish tied for 55th at 3-over, 219. Classmate Jake Griffin, playing as an individual, also finished tied for 55th at 3-over, 219, after shooting a 1-under, 71, Tuesday. Graduate student James McHugh finished the 54-hole tournament at 11-over, 227, and in a tie for 84th place.
 
The 2021 fall season is now complete and the Nittany Lions will resume competition in the spring of 2022.
