Martin Shoots 3-Under-Par To Pace Cards at Regional


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Mairead Martin enjoyed her best round of the season on Tuesday, firing a phenomenal 3-under 69 to sit in 11th place through the first 36 holes of the NCAA Albuquerque Regional at UNM Championship Course.
 
Powered by Martin’s stellar round, the University of Louisville women’s golf team closed in eighth place heading into the third and final round. The Cards are eight shots off the cut line after shooting an 8-over-par on Tuesday. Oregon continues to hold the overall lead at 8-under-par, while Georgia is in second place at even-par and Texas sits in third at 1-over-par. TCU holds the final spot for advancement at 7-over-par.
 
The top four teams will advance to the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz.
 
Martin posted one of the top rounds of the day, shooting a 3-under-par on the back nine to propel her to her personal best in 2021-22. She recorded three consecutive birdies on holes 14 through 16 to card a 33 on the final holes.
 
Kendall Griffin finished in a tie for 21st place after she round of 1-over-par, while Lauren Thibodeau, who was even on Monday, came back with a 78 on Tuesday to rest in a tie for 33rd.  Griffin was steady recording pars on 17 of 18 holes but did register a bogey on No. 12.
 
Carmen Griffiths is tied for 39th after she hot 77 and Gabbi Bentancourt is tied for 61st after also shooting 77.

The Cardinals will tee off for the final round at 10 a.m. EST with Sam Houston State and Oklahoma.
