LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jiri Zuska and Jackson Brimfield each fired second-round scores of 66 to lead the University of Louisville men’s golf team into 11th place at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at the Mirabel Country Club on Saturday.
Collectively, the Cardinals shot an 11-under-par 269 to move up two spots heading into Sunday’s final round. Auburn leads the field at 34-under-par followed by Arizona State in second place at 32-under-par. Florida State is in third at 29-under-par, while Tennessee is in fourth at 27-under and San Diego State is in fifth at 22-under.
Zuska birdied four of the first nine holes and added two more on the back nine to tie for 17th place after two rounds of play. He opened his round with a birdie to shoot 3-under on the first nine holes.
After shooting 74 on Friday, Brimfield responded by recording seven birdies to post his career-best round to sit in a tie for 52nd place. Brimfield closed his day in impressive fashion by birding his final four holes.
Max Kennedy moved into a tie for 20th place after his round of 68, while Pierce Grieve was also under par after shooting 69 to sit in a tie for 70th. Sebastian Moss rounds out the top five after shooting an even-par 70 to tie.
The Cardinals will be paired with Wake Forest and New Mexico for the final round of play beginning at 10:40 ET on Sunday.
