Illini Prepped for Schooner Fall Classic


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois women’s golf team travels to Norman, Okla., for the Schooner Fall Classic. The three-day tournament is hosted by the University of Oklahoma on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-26.

THE SETTING

The Schooner Fall Classic will be held at Belmar Golf Club. The course was designed by Tripp Davis and officially opened in 2002. The course will be set up for a par 70 and will play 6,109 yards long.  

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

There will be 15 teams competing in the 54-hole tournament. Saturday and Sunday have shotgun starts at 9:00 a.m. CT, with Monday’s shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT.

THE FIELD

Along with the Illini, the 15-team field for the Schooner Fall Classic will include Baylor, Clemson, Florida State, Houston, Iowa State, Louisville, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas State, Tulsa, UTSA and Virginia Tech.

ILLINI AT THE SCHOONER FALL CLASSIC

This will be the third time in program history that the Illinois women’s golf program has competed in the Schooner Fall Classic. The Illini finished tied for fourth in last season’s tournament and tied for fifth in the 2019 edition. In the 2019 tournament, Tristyn Nowlin took home the individual title.

Live scoring for the Schooner Fall Classic will be available on Golfstat.com. A Recap and results will be posted on FightingIllini.com following each day of play.

UP NEXT

The Illini will next head to Medinah, Ill., for the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah Country Club on Oct. 10-11.
