Blue Devils Head South to Play in Jackson T. Stephens Cup


JUNO BEACH, Fla. – The 10th-ranked Duke women’s golf team will head south this weekend to compete in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, which will be held Oct. 10-12 at the Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.

All teams will play 54 holes of stroke play and then the top four teams will advance to match play to close the event.  On Monday, Oct. 10, the teams will play 36 holes of stroke play followed by 18 holes on Oct. 11.  The match play portion will be contested on Oct. 12.  

The women’s field includes Stanford, South Carolina, Wake Forest, LSU, Southern California, Arkansas and Duke.  Seven men’s programs will also compete as well.  

In addition to the 14 schools competing for team titles, individual men and women collegiate players representing Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the U.S. Service Academies will compete in the stroke play portion of the tournament.

Duke will feature a lineup of senior Erica Shepherd, junior Phoebe Brinker, junior Anne Chen, sophomore Rylie Heflin and freshman Andie Smith.  

The Golf Channel will feature live coverage of the event on Oct. 10 from 4-7 p.m., followed by Oct. 11-12 from 3-6 p.m.  There will be encores aired from 8-11 on Oct. 10-11, followed by Oct. 12 from 7-10 p.m., and 3-6 a.m. (Oct. 13).  

The Jackson T. Stephens Cup is named in memory of the late Augusta National Chairman, Jackson T. Stephens.  

Duke has seen action in two tournaments so far in the fall and turned in a tied for fourth place ledger at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate and Windy City Collegiate Classic.
