MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men’s golf will be traveling to Vero Beach, Florida to compete in Michigan State’s Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational this Sunday, Oct. 16 and Monday, Oct. 17. The Badgers will play a total of three rounds over two days at the Quail Valley Golf Club.
Here are five things you need to know before the men tee off on Sunday:
1. Last Time Out: Golfers Graham Moody, Max Schwarz, Ryan Smith and Spencer Turtz last competed for the Badgers as individuals in the Purdue Fall Individual. Max Schwarz led the Badgers that competed, shooting a +5, placing him at even par (69-70-77+216) and in 11th place.The last time Wisconsin competed as a team was at the 2022 Marquette Intercollegiate at the Milwaukee Country Club on October 2-3. The team carded an 874 (288+289+297) to place them at 34 above par, finishing 11th out of 15 teams.
2. The Course: Quail Valley, designed by Tommy Fazio and Nick Price in 2001, is an 18-hole, par-72 course. The course features more than 60 acres of waterways, multiple elevations and tree-lined fairways. Aside from holding the Invitational, the course has hosted a variety of USGA and FSGA Championships.
3. The Tournament: The Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf Club will be played at a par 72 at 7,350 yards. The tournament will begin on Sunday with the first two rounds starting at 8:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. Monday will conclude the tournament with 18 holes. Tee times on Monday start at 8 a.m. ET off the first and 10th holes.
4. The Field: Teams competing in the Invitational include Cincinnati, Indiana, Liberty, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan State, Missouri, North Florida, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers, South Florida, Toledo and Wisconsin. Representing Wisconsin is Cameron Huss, Maxime Legros, Daniel Aas, Ryan Smith and Max Schwarz.
