DURHAM – Duke junior men’s golfer Ian Siebers has been named Duke’s PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week, following his first collegiate medalist honor.
Siebers helped the Duke men’s golf team sweep the Georgetown Intercollegiate last week, as the junior claimed co-medalist with a 5-under 211. He entered the final day of play sitting three shots back of the lead and played a steady front nine, making the turn with an even-par 36 through the first half of his round.
The Bellevue, Wash., native promptly eagled the 10th hole to get into red numbers and sat just one shot off the lead with three holes to play. Siebers birdied the 17th and then finessed a two-putt from 40-feet on the final hole to ensure he finished as co-medalist.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Oct. 21-23 when they travel to Alpharetta, Ga. to compete in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.
PNC Achievers is a student honors platform that is active at nearly 20 schools and universities across PNC Bank’s service area. Honorees are selected locally by designated panels at each respective school, using a set of criteria that includes athletic accomplishments, academic achievement, community service and student leadership.
