Wang Named Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week


ROSEMONT, Ill. – Crystal Wang was selected as the Big Ten Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after finishing The Ally tied for fifth, the conference announced on Thursday.

Wang posted a 54-hole total of 217 (+1) to finish tied for fifth, her third-straight Top 5 finish of the season and her seventh-straight Top 15 finish dating back to last season.

The Diamond Bar, Calif., native, opened the tournament with four-under 68, which was her fifth-straight round under 70. She has fired eight under-par rounds in 12 this season, posting a scoring average of 69.33.

This marks the third-career weekly honor for Wang, her first since Feb. 22, 2022. She is the second Illini to earn Big Ten honors this season, with Isabel Sy also being named golfer of the week on Sept. 19.

The Fighting Illini are back in action on Oct. 31 at The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Fla., for the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami.
