ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Stanford men’s golf, after firing an 8-under 280 on Friday, sits tied for fourth at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. The Cardinal is four strokes back of co-leaders Georgia Tech and Clemson, who are both 12-under after one round. 

Junior Michael Thorbjornsen fired a 4-under 68 and is also tied for fourth. He is just three shots back of co-leaders Nick Dunlap (Alabama) and Hiroshi Tai (Georgia Tech). Thorbjornsen played both the Par 4s and Par 5s at 2-under on the day, while playing the Par 3s at even. He tallied five birdies, one bogey and 12 pars on the day. 

Stanford had three players fire 2-under 70s on Friday: Nate Menon, Ethan Ng and Dean Greyserman, who is competing as an individual. Barclay Brown and Alex Yang (individual) both fired even-par 72s, while Karl Vilips was 3-over for the day.

Stanford will tee off Saturday morning at 9:20 a.m. ET/6:20 a.m. PT off the 10th tee, while the individuals will go off the first tee at 8:01 a.m. PT and 8:34 a.m. PT.
