Lauterbach finishes top-3 in Marilynn Smith Invitational


LAWRENCE, Kan. Emily Lauterbach helped lead the Badgers to a fifth place finish at the 2022 Marilynn Smith Invitational, shooting a +4 to T3 for her best finish of the season. 

Tuesday, Oct. 18

Round 3

Because of time constraints, round three was cut down to nine holes instead of 18. Emily Lauterbach finished in the lead for the Badgers with a final score of +4 to T3. Also finishing in the top-10 with her best finish of the season was Gia Feliciano, who ended with a +6 to T6. Alexia Siehl ended the tournament with a +19 to T47, while Vanessa Ho climbed up three spots from round two to finish T62 with a +23. Chloe Chan totaled a +27 to T74. 

“I am proud that the team moved up on the final day.  It was a challenging golf course and we had very difficult weather conditions.  They showed some toughness and competitiveness throughout the weekend,” Coach Oehrlein said. “In particular, Emily and Gia played outstanding.  I was really impressed with how they handled the conditions on a challenging course”. 

Monday, Oct. 17

Round 1

Wisconsin carded a +21 (309) in the first round, placing them in 7th. The Badgers were led by Feliciano and Lauterbach in round one, both shooting a +1 to end the round T6. Following behind was Siehl with a +8 to T43 and Chan with a +11 to T65. Ho rounded out the lineup for the Badgers with a +16 to T81. 

Round 2

Due to darkness, round two of the invitational was cut short. Three Badgers were able to finish the round of golf on Monday before is was pushed off to Tuesday. Feliciano shot a +1, Chan a +8 and Siehl a +9. Tuesday morning, Lauterbach finished out the round with a +2, while Ho carded a +3, improving her score by 13 strokes from round one.
