East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s men’s golf team shot a 5-over par 293 in the final round and finished in seventh place among 13 teams at the Cal Poly Invitational with a 4-over par 868 at The Preserve in Carmel, Calif.
This was the final event of the fall season for the Spartans.
Ohio State won the tournament, shooting a 19-under par 84, three shots ahead of second place Northwestern (16-under par 848). SMU was in third place at 13-under par 851, with Washington fourth (4-under par 860) and Marquette rounded out the top-five (2-under par 862).
Oregon finished in sixth at 1-under par 863 and the Spartans were seventh at 4-over par 868 (284-291-293).
Sophomore Ashton McCulloch carded a 1-under par 71 in the final round and was the top finisher for the Spartans, tying for sixth place at 5-under par 211 (70-70-71).
Junior August Meekhof shot a 2-over par 74 in the final round and tied for 21st place at even-par 216 (70-72-74).
Fifth year Troy Taylor II tied for 32nd place at 3-over par 219 (72-75-72), finishing the tournament with a even-par 72 on Tuesday.
Sophomore Satchel Pierce tied for 50th place at 8-over par 224 (72-76-76) and senior Drew Hackett finished in a tie for 55th place at 9-over 225 (72-74-79).
