Women’s Golf Moves Up Leaderboard on Day Two from the Bahamas


NASSAU, Bahamas – Ole Miss women’s golf got right back into the swing of things on Tuesday with the second round of the Nexus Collegiate Invitational, as the Rebels were able to move up a place to eighth after carding a round of 305 (+17) on the day.

Now sitting at a two-day total of 617 (+41), the Rebels were able to put together their best round of the week so far on Tuesday, sinking a total of 13 birdies on the day to move to 22 total birdies on the week.

Chiara Tamburlini continues to pace the Rebels on the week, with the senior’s day two scorecard of 77 (+5) settling the St. Gallen, Switzerland, native into a tie for 11th at 4-over par on the week. Tamburlini currently sits tied for second in the field in par-3 scoring (E) on the week, along with having a team-high of six birdies on the week.

Despite a slow start on the day, Andrea Lignell made a late move up the leaderboard for the Rebels after going two-under over her final 12 holes of the day to finish with a round of 74 (+2). Lignell will now enter the third round tied for 16th, as the Sweden, native has now finished par or better on 29 of her 36 holes played on the week.

Sophomore Natacha Host Husted saw the same success as Lignell did over her first nine holes of the day, with Host Husted sinking all three of her birdies in her front nine to reach the turn two-under par. Host Husted would ultimately finish with a team-best round of 73 (+1) on the day, placing her in a tie for 39th with one round left to play in Nassau.

The senior duo of Elle Johnson and Ellen Hume will both enter tomorrow’s final round of action in 55th and 59th, respectively, after both logging rounds in the 80s for the Rebels. Hume finished her day with a team-high five birdies on Tuesday, including sinking three-straight to open her back nine.

Competing as an individual, McKinley Cunningham will enter day three tied with Johnson at 55th overall as she now holds a two-day score of 165 (+21).

Ole Miss will cap off the team’s trip to the Bahamas tomorrow morning with the final round of the Nexus Collegiate Invitational at Albany Golf Club. The Rebels are set to tee off for their final 18 holes of the week with a…
