Freshmen Shine in Round One of Moon Golf Invitational – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Melbourne, Fla. – Freshmen Sydney Roberts and Isabella Rawl each recorded a round in the 60s to lead Clemson on the first day of the Moon Golf Invitational at the par-72, 6362-yard Suntree Country Club Classic Course in Melbourne, Fla. 

As a team, the Tigers finished at -9 on the day (279) to sit alone in third place. Ninth-ranked LSU leads with a first-round 276 (-12) ahead of UCF (278; -10). Northwestern, Florida and Auburn are in a three-way tie for fourth at -7, while Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech round out the top half of the field (-6; -4).

Roberts, a Chesnee, S.C., native, recorded a six-birdie round in her first tournament of the spring, to lead the Tigers from the #5 spot with a 68 (-4) to sit in a tie for seventh. Rawl, who hails from Lexington, S.C., started off her first collegiate tournament with an eagle on the par-5 10. Rawl finished the day at -3 to tie for 13th. 

Katherine Schuster finished at -2 (70), while Savannah Grewal carded an even 72 and Chloe Holder finished at +2 (74).

Clemson returns to the course for round two on Monday morning beginning at 9:40 a.m., paired with LSU and UCF. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com
