FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Washington State women’s golf team got 30 holes of play in during the first day of the 2023 Juli Inkster Meadow Club Invitational and sat in a tie for eighth with California when play was suspended due to darkness midway through the second round.
Fifth-year senior Darcy Habgood paced WSU on day one of play at Meadow Club Golf Course. The Australian native sat in a tie for 11th on the player leaderboard when play came to a halt. Habgood was in the middle of a solid second round, as the fifth-year senior sat at 3-under through 10 holes of play. Habgood senior opened the tournament at 3-over; 75.
Washington State had golfers playing holes 10 thru 12 when play came to an end due to darkness. The Cougars will resume play Tuesday, March 7, sitting in a tie for eighth on the team leaderboard. Washington State opened the Meadow Club Invitational by shooting 296 (+8) in the first round. The Cougs posted the sixth-best team score in the first round of the tournament.
Stanford currently sits in first place at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Invitational, as the Cardinal sit at -8 as a team when play was suspended. Stanford holds a two-stroke lead over Southern California heading into the tournament’s final day. Stanford’s Rosie Zhang is leading the field at the end of the first day, shooting 6-under through 30 holes of play.
The Meadow Club Invitational will resume Tuesday, March 7. The second round will resume at 8 a.m. PT from the Meadow Club Golf Course, with the third round beginning immediately after. Fans can follow all of the action at GolfStat.com.
