ARDMORE, Okla. – Ashley Kozlowski shot a season-best 68 (-2) in the second round of The Bruzzy, part of a 36-hole day for Purdue Women’s Golf at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club. Following the first two rounds of play on Saturday, the Boilermakers find themselves in third among the 15-team field.
North Texas (+3), the host of the tournament, holds an 8-stroke lead over Tulsa (+11) with Purdue (+19) eight shots back of the Golden Hurricane.
Kozlowski ended the day at 4-over, rebounding from a 76 (+6) in the morning with her best round of the year in the afternoon. Her 2-under 68 featured a 30 (-4) on the Dornick Hills’ front nine. The junior made five birdies on that side, including three straight on holes 6-8. Shaving eight strokes off her first 18, Kozlowski soared up the leaderboard into a tie for 13th.
Momo Suigyama added rounds of 72 (+2) and 73 (+3) to sit in a tie for 17th. She made four birdies throughout the day and played the par 70 course steady with 27 pars, the third most in the 84-player field. However, the signature 16th hole prevented Sugiyama from finishing in red figures. She triple bogeyed the difficult par 5 during both rounds, while playing the remaining 34 holes 1-under par.
Danielle du Toit ended the day at 7-over, tied for 25th, while Kan Bunnabodee was one shot behind her Purdue teammate (+8). Jocelyn Bruch paced Purdue in the first round with a 71 (+1), but she found trouble on the 16th hole as well during the afternoon.
The Boilermakers look to apply pressure to North Texas and Tulsa tomorrow, while also staying ahead of 12 other teams. The final round begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET.
