For the second time this season, Tennessee men’s golf true freshman Caleb Surratt has captured an SEC weekly honor–being named SEC Co-Freshman Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Surratt guided the Vols to their third team title of the season after placing tied for sixth in the 100-player field at the Mossy Oak Collegiate on Tuesday.
The Indian Trail, North Carolina, native posted a 10-under total with each round under par, including a bogey-free 6-under 66 in the tournament’s opening round. In total, Surratt racked up 17 birdies for the event and provided a counting round to the lineup in all three rounds.
The true freshman’s performance at the Mossy Oak Collegiate came after another tied for sixth place finish at the All-American Intercollegiate in March, marking the first time he has captured consecutive top-10 finishes in his career.
Through eight tournaments during the 2022-23 season, Surratt has registered a team-leading 69.92 stroke average, as well as 19 rounds of par or better.
