Maryland Returns to Stitch Intercollegiate

Raleigh, N.C. — The Maryland men’s golf team returns to the fairways this weekend after a  nearly two-week break to compete in the Stitch Intercollegiate hosted by NC State. This is the Terps’ eighth event of the 2022-23 campaign.

Over the two-day tournament (Apr. 7-8), the Terrapins will play the par-71 – 7,209-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course designed by the late Arnold Palmer.

The teams will play 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun format off holes one and 10 simultaneously.

The squad will be led by sophomore Florian Huerlimann of Heidelberg, Germany, freshman Ronnie Kim of Olney, Md., freshman Constantin Mons of Hamburg, Germany, senior Will Celiberti of Ridgewood, N.J., and senior Dillon Brown of Halifax, Mass., and will round out the Terps’ lineup.

“We are looking forward to the Stitch Intercollegiate,” said head coach John Phillips. “The Terps have historically faired well at Lonnie Poole, and the field this week is comprised of some of the best programs in the nation. It will be a great opportunity for us to test ourselves against some great teams from across the country.”

Last time out, Maryland finished 13th overall out of 14 teams back in 2019. That year, the field played MacGregor Downs Country Club in a weather-shortened event.

The teams participating in the Invitational include host NC State, Appalachian State, Boston College, Campbell, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Duke, Elon, High Point, James Madison, North Carolina Central, Oklahoma State, Toledo, and UNCG.
