Brinker, Shepherd Tabbed to All-ACC Women’s Golf Team

DURHAM – On Monday, the ACC Office released the annual All-ACC awards for women’s golf with Duke’s Phoebe Brinker and Erica Shepherd earning accolades.

It marks the 24th-consecutive time the Blue Devils have received at least two selections on the All-ACC squad and the 29th time under the direction of head coach Dan Brooks.  Brooks has now featured 40 different All-ACC standouts over his 39 years at Duke and a total of 104 selections.

Both Brinker and Shepherd earned All-ACC honors for the third straight year.

Coming off a runner-up finish at the ACC Championship with a 12-under-par, 204, Brinker has turned in another solid season for the Blue Devils.  She owns a team-best 72.58 stroke average with three top-5, five top-10 and six top-20 finishes on the season.  Brinker, who hails from Wilmington, Del., leads Duke with 16 rounds of even or under par and four eagles.  Her six rounds in the 60s also is a team-best.  In the ACC Championship, Brinker tied a career best with an 8-under, 64, in the final round.  She is one of only three Blue Devils to post three rounds of 65 or better over their career.

A native of Greenwood, Ind., Shepherd has totaled a 73.73 stroke average so far this season to go along with two top-10 and four top-20 finishes.  Her 10 rounds of even or under par rank second on the squad, while her three rounds in the 60s is tied for second.  Shepherd turned in back-to-back top-10 finishes at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup and the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational with four of the six rounds coming in at under par.  Over her Duke career, she owns 35 rounds of even or under par, nine rounds in the 60s and 14 top-20 finishes.

The Blue Devils will next head to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., for the NCAA Regionals from May 8-10 at the PGA National Resort.
