UW Headed To Auburn For NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals

The Washington men’s golf team will travel to Auburn, Ala., to play in an NCAA Regional May 15-17. The Huskies earned the No. 6 seed at the 13-team regional, one of six around the nation.
 
The 54-hole regional will be played at the Auburn University Club. The Huskies are the only team from the Pacific Time Zone in the regional field, which is topped by three Southeastern Conference programs: No. 1-seed Vanderbilt, No. 2 Tennessee and No. 3 Auburn.

The NCAA men’s golf tournament field includes 81 teams in total, with either 13 or 14 teams at each of six regional sites (others besides Auburn are: Salem, S.C.; Las Vegas; East Lansing, Mich.; Norman, Okla.; and Morgan Hill, Calif.). Each of those regionals will host three rounds (54 holes) of stroke play, with the low five teams and one individual (top individual from a team other than the five advancing teams) will advance to the National Championships, May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
 
Those 30 teams and six individuals will play three rounds before the field is cut in half. Those 15 teams will play a fourth round, with the top-eight finishing teams advancing to match play quarterfinals.
