CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini men’s golf program, coming off its conference-record eighth consecutive Big Ten Championship, is set to travel to the NCAA Regional in Bath, Mich., as announced Wednesday afternoon on GOLF Channel. Hosted by Michigan State, the regional will be held at Eagle Eye Golf Club. The Orange and Blue have now qualified for each of the last 15 NCAA Regionals.
The NCAA Bath Regional will be played in a 54-hole format, conducted May 15-17. The Illini will play 18 holes each day at the Par-72, 7,323-yard course.
Illinois, nationally ranked No. 2 by Golfweek and No. 3 by Golfstat, earned the No. 1 seed in the regional field and will be joined by 12 other programs, seeded 2-13: Florida, Texas, Oregon, Kansas State, Georgia, Liberty, San Diego, UALR, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Illinois State, and IPFW.
The low five teams and low individual not on a qualifying team from each of the six NCAA regional sites will advance to compete at the NCAA Championships at the Grayhawk Golf Club Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 26-30. Illinois is in search of the program’s 14th NCAA Championship berth in the last 15 tournaments dating back to 2008 (no championship was held in 2020).
The other five regional sites are: Auburn University Club (Auburn, Ala.; host: Auburn), The Cliffs at Keowee Falls (Salem, S.C.; host: Clemson), Bear’s Best Las Vegas (Las Vegas, Nev.; host: UNLV), Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (Norman, Okla.; host: Oklahoma), and The Institute Golf Club (Morgan Hill, Calif.; host: San Jose State).
