Wolfpack Women's Golf Wraps Up NCAA Championships Run


SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — NC State women’s golf concluded its 2022-23 season with the third round of stroke play at the NCAA Championships on Sunday evening. 

The Pack shot 308 (+20) in the final round and finished 30th with a score of 917 (+53) through three days of action at its first final site appearance since the 2014-15 season.

With the conclusion of its NCAA Championships run, the Wolfpack wrapped up a historic campaign that included:

  • The program’s fourth NCAA Championships berth of all time and its first since 2015
  • Posting a pair of 18-hole program records (278, -10) and a 54-hole tournament record (847, -17) at the ICON Invitational
  • Setting a postseason program record with a 282 in the first round of the NCAA Raleigh Regional
  • Securing its best regional finish (2nd) in program history
  • Lauren Olivares Leon winning the Briar’s Creek Invitational for the first individual victory for the Pack in five years
  • Tying the team’s highest ACC Championships finish since 2017

T65. Lauren Olivares Leon: 76-75-71=222 (+6)

T125. Natalie Armbruester: 74-77-80=231 (+15)

T133. Isabel Amezcua: 81-76-75=232 (+16)

T139. Vania Simont: 74-77-83=234 (+18)

Caitlin Whitehead: 76-82=158 (+10), second and third rounds

Jaclyn Kenzel: 85 (+13), first round

Olivares Leon shot the Pack’s only under-par round at an incredibly tough Grayhawk Golf Course this weekend with a 71 (-1) in the third round. She birdied three holes, including closing out her round with a birdie on 18 after a great third shot out of the front bunker. Amezcua also posted her tournament best score of 75 (+3) with four birdies. 

Natalie Armbruester played the final round of her collegiate career (80, +8), and both Caitlin Whitehead (82 +10) and Vania Simont (83, +11) also competed in the Pack’s season conclusion.
