USC’s Allisen Corpuz Wins U.S. Women’s Open At Pebble Beach

A 2021 USC women’s golf graduate, Allisen Corpuz made a power move in the final round of the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open, taking the lead on Sunday and holding her ground with a 3-under 69 to become just the second USC women’s golfer to win a major title. It was the first-ever U.S. Women’s Open to be held at Pebble Beach, giving Corpuz an opportunity to compete at a major in the closest-ever location to her home state of Hawai’i.

Corpuz captured the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open title at a winning 9-under 279 (69-70-71-69), three better than runners-up Charley Hull and Jiyai Shin. Corpuz is now the 78th all-time U.S. Women’s Open champion and the first American woman to win the title since 2016.

This was Corpuz’s fifth U.S. Open (2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2023). She made the cut for the first time last year, tying for 24th. Corpuz earned an exemption into this 2023 U.S. Open thanks to being in the top 75 of the Rolex Rankings as of May 3. Prior to today’s winning performance, the only other pro tour victory Corpuz had won was the 2014 Hawai’i State Open as a 16-year-old.

Corpuz, who reached No. 1 in the Golfweek rankings as a 2021 USC senior, finished her Trojan playing career with 16 rounds in the 60s — fourth most in program history. Her career average of 72.90 is 13th best on USC’s career list. Also as a Trojan, Corpuz helpedUSC win back-to-back Pac-12 titles and was named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I At-Large Team First Team — the first USC women’s golfer to do so. She earned a master’s in Global Supply Chain Management in 2021 while also earning graduate certificates in business analytics sustainability and business. This, after earning her undergraduate degree in business administration. On the links, Corpuz posted a pair of wins as part of an incredible start to her senior season, posting six straight top-four finishes, the best at USC in two decades. A 2021 ANNIKA Award finalist, she led USC in rounds in the 60s (six), rounds of par or better (15) and rounds under par (14), all career-best efforts in her final season at Troy.
